BBC Two's Psychoville got off to a fair start last night, according to the latest viewing figures.
The new comedy-thriller, starring The League Of Gentlemen's Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton, averaged 1.44m (7.3%) between 10pm and 10.30pm.
Earlier on the channel, Springwatch pulled in 2.02m (9.8%) during the 8pm hour, then the half-hour Matt Lucas comedy Kröd Mändoon And The Flaming Sword Of Fire took 1.25m (5.8%) at 9pm, followed by That Mitchell And Webb Look, which was seen by 1.1m (5.1%).
Over on BBC One, Celebrity Masterchef put in 4.35m (21.1%) at 8pm, then the third installment of James Nesbitt-fronted drama Occupation followed with 3.31m (15.4%).
The Bill led the 8pm hour with 4.44m (21.6%) for ITV1. The audience then fell to 2.84m (13.3%) during the 9pm screening of May Contain Nuts.
Channel 4's The Home Show grabbed 1.52m (7.4%) at 8pm, then a new two-part series, Undercover Boss, followed with 2.64m (12.3%). At 10pm, 1.87m (10.8%) tuned in for the latest Big Brother highlights show, which is down around 1.65m - some 47% - on the equivalent show from last year. It drew 3.52m on June 19, 2008 but aired at 9pm instead of 10pm.
The latest episode of The Mentalist drew a respectable 2.48m (11.6%) for Five during the 9pm hour. Earlier on the channel, an 8pm repeat of Paul Merton In India interested 524k (2.5%).
Overall, BBC One came top during primetime with an average share of 22.3% to ITV1's 17%. Channel 4 was third with 8.7% (+1: 0.7%), followed by BBC Two with 6.8% and Five's 5.8%.
Elsewhere, the latest episode of Katie & Peter: Stateside pulled in 1.14m (5.9%) for ITV2 at 9pm. Earlier, I'm A Celebrity... USA logged 284k (1.7%) during the 7pm hour, and 733k (3.9%) tuned in for the 8pm screening of America's Got Talent.
