Deep Impact nearly beats Millionaire

ITV's Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? nearly lost out to the BBC competition on Tuesday, as apocalyptic movie Deep Impact received its terrestrial premiere.
The film, starring Denzel Washington and Elijah Wood, pulled in 10.5 million viewers (38%) from 20.05. The top-rated quiz show averaged 10.4 million between 20.00 and 21.00, however hit a peak of 11.7 million in its final quarter hour.
The first part of Channel 4 war epic Sword Of Honour averaged 2.2 million (9%) starting 21.00, preceded by The 1940s House, which averaged 2.2 million (8%).
