'Wife Swap' partner calls it a day
Published Sunday, Oct 24 2004, 09:50 BST | By Daniel Kilkelly
A Wife Swap contestant has dumped his partner of 12 years after appearing on the show, The People reports today.
Jason Hill only realised the true reality of living with partner Becky Fairhurst after his time on the show. The newspaper claims that Becky never did anything to help around the house, continually smoked, swore in front of her children, and stayed in bed until midday.
Jason explained, "Being on the show was a real eye-opener. I was just existing with Becky compared to the organised life I experienced with the other 'wife'. I'm so much happier now we've split up. I've been given a new lease of life."
When Jacqui Thomas moved into Jason's home for the show's swap, she was so disgusted by the state of the house that she cleaned and redecorated it.
"The show made me realise just how bad the state of the house had become," Jason added. "Jacqui gave the house a good scrub and it made a world of difference. I could relax much more in the house and loved having everything clean and tidy.
"Becky was always cursing in front of the children and it used to really annoy me. With Jacqui in the house, I noticed how much of a bad role model Becky had been."
Viewers can see the swap in an episode airing on November 2.
