Larry Lamb reveals 'Gavin & Stacey' tears

Rex Features

Larry Lamb has revealed that the whole cast cried when they filmed the final scene of Gavin & Stacey.

Speaking on This Morning, Lamb - currently starring as Archie Mitchell in EastEnders - said he has just completed filming for the third and final series and admitted that "there wasn't a dry eye in the house".

"For something that has achieved as much as this has in such a short period of time, they want to go out on a high," he said. "There's no point saying we're just going to keep this thing going and going and going.

"It's very difficult to turn out stuff of this quality in the amount of time you've got to do it. They get a writing period of perhaps four or five months to turn it out and be as consistently good as it has been, it's stretching it. And Ruth and James don't want this to fade out - they wanna go out while it's running hot."

He added: "When we as a group rehearsed the final sequence in the series, there really wasn't a dry eye in the place. It was quite extraordinary with all these actors and technicians who are a bit hard. Gavin & Stacey goes full circle."
