'The Chaser' stunt causes outrage

Comedians from Aussie TV show The Chaser have once again come under fire for one of their controversial stunts.

The team attempted to scale a church spire during a service which Prime Minister Kevin Rudd was attending to mark the death of an Australian soldier in Afghanistan.

Comedian and producer Julian Morrow was warned of Rudd's reasons for attending the chapel as he arrived dressed in full mountaineering gear. However, according to The Australian, ABC decided to keep the cameras rolling. Morrow was stopped by police upon attempting to scale the building.

The Prime Minister said after the incident: "Today is a really sad time for all Australians." Australian Defence Association boss Neal James also said that he found the stunt offensive.

In 2007, the show caused controversy with a song that mocked the late Steve Irwin and earlier this year received a TV ban for making a sketch about dying children.
