Landscape Channel rebranded

By
The Landscape Channel instrumental music network is going through some changes with rebranding as Landscape - The Relaxation Network, planned for February. Starting 1st January it moved to Internet connected server distribution - not streaming but very effective and as far as we know the only broadcaster using this method. In consequence major distributors like Deutsch Telekom in Germany (the largest cable operator in the world) and Mediakabel- Casema in the Netherlands now broadcast from local Landscape servers refreshed via the Internet. This means that Landscape no longer needs satellite feeds, keeping the cost of the service low, and providing global reach to any cable or satellite service with local Internet connection anywhere in the world. This will impact quite quickly on Landscapes growth, which has been up till now hampered by the satellite cost restrictions.

At the same time Landscape starts taking advertising at the end of this month, for the first time in twelve years. Local advertising, stings and links being distributed by language. Production is currently planned for English, German, French, Spanish and Dutch when digital numbers warrant it. Other languages will be added as the service goes global, where distribution is large enough to warrant the expense (over 100,000 homes).
