Humble's history explored by 4.6 million

Kate Humble's episode of Who Do You Think You Are? pulled in 4.62m (19.5%) for BBC One on Wednesday night, according to the latest figures.

The 9pm show, which saw the BBC presenter trace her family background via her paternal grandfather, logged the lowest ratings of the series so far.

Previously, Davina McCall's appearance drew 6.43m (26.6%), while last week's episode - featuring Chris Moyles - put in 4.71m (20.2%).

Also during the 9pm hour, BBC Two's Dragons' Den had 3.08m (13%), Big Brother grabbed 1.86m (7.9%) for Channel 4, and 1.26m (6%) tuned in for Jean-Claude Van Damme thriller The Shepherd on Five between 9pm and 11pm.

Earlier, at 8pm, Home For Life attracted 1.03m (4.9%) to BBC Two, 1.76m (8.4%) watched Embarrassing Illnesses on Channel 4, and Five's Build A New Life In The Country interested 1.09m (5.2%).

Over on BBC One, 3.26m (16.8%) tuned in for Wildest Dreams between 7.30pm and 8.30pm, then Seaside Rescue logged 3.42m (15.9%) over 30 minutes.

ITV1's Midsomer Murders put in a respectable 6.42m (28.8%) between 8pm and 10pm.

Overall, ITV1 led primetime with an average share of 25.8% to BBC One's 19.2%. Channel 4 was third with 6.9% (+1: 1.2%), followed by BBC Two with 6.7% and Five's 5.1%.

Elsewhere, BBC Four documentary Breaking The Mould: The Story Of Penicillin was seen by 426k (2.1%) during the 9pm hour.
