David Young, creator of gameshow The Weakest Link, is to leave the BBC and set up a joint venture company with Hat Trick Productions, it has been announced.
He will leave the Corporation when his contract expires in March, following a two-year stint which saw him create and develop shows such as The Weakest Link and Friends Like These.
Mr Young said, "I have thoroughly enjoyed my two years at the BBC during a very creative period for light entertainment. However, the prospect of working at Hat Trick in such an exciting new venture was too tempting to turn down."
BBC Director of Entertainment Alan Yentob said: "David quickly made his mark as a dynamic force in entertainment at the BBC and we have benefited from his creativity and great enthusiasm."
