Coulter defends axed 'Idol' judge
Australian Idol host Rickie-Lee Coulter has said that she finds the axing of judge Kyle Sandilands "sad".

Although she defended her friend, the singer and presenter said that she fully supports Channel Ten's decision to sack the disgraced DJ.

She told News.com.au: "It's really sad, he's brought an amazing energy and aspect to the show. But I support the network. With our new timeslot, it's a family show now more than ever and [the decision is] understandable."

She added: "Away from the cameras he's a genuine, caring, talented guy."

Sandilands and his radio show co-host Jackie O came under fire after subjecting a 14-year-old rape victim to a grilling about her sex life live on air. Their programme has since been suspended.

Former Idol host James Mathison is tipped to replace the judge on the reality show.
