Channel 4's On Tour With The Queen made a decent start last night, according to the latest viewing figures.

The first episode of the four-part series, which follows Queen Elizabeth's six-month tour in 1953, pulled in 1.67m (7.6%) during the 9pm hour.

Earlier on Channel 4, The Queen's Coronation: Behind Palace Doors attracted 1.2m (5.4%) during the 8pm hour. Later, at 10pm, the Big Brother highlights show put in 2.05m (12.5%).

Five's The Gadget Show had 1.57m (7.1%) at 8pm, then The Hotel Inspector interested 2.07m (9.5%) during the 9pm hour.

Over on BBC One, the 8.30pm edition of Panorama took 3.13m (14%), then 4.22m (19.3%) tuned in for The Street at 9pm.

University Challenge logged 2.79m (12.7%) for BBC Two at 8pm. What To Eat Now followed at 8.30pm, pulling in 1.75m (7.8%), then 1.32m (6%) watched the second part of The Trouble With Girls, which was down around 300k on last week's performance.

ITV1's half-hour Airline had 3.09m (14.2%) at 8pm. Later, at 9pm, the fifth instalment of Monday Monday drew 2.68m (12.3%).

Overall, ITV1 came top during primetime with an average share of 22% to BBC One's 21%. Channel 4 was third with 6.9% (+1: 0.5%), followed by BBC Two with 6.6% and Five's 6.1%.

Elsewhere, the half-hour Underage And Pregnant averaged 426k (2.1%) for BBC Three at 8.30pm, and E4's One Tree Hill managed 388k (1.9%) during the 9pm hour.
