Springbett 'favourite for Idol role'
Music executive Jay Dee Springbett is rumoured to have accepted the role as Australian Idol's replacement judge after Kyle Sandilands was sacked.

After Brian McFadden confirmed that he did not want the job, a Channel Ten insider hinted to the Daily Telegraph that the talent scout has been brought in to replace the shamed DJ.

Sandilands has been a judge on the reality series since 2005, but was fired after he quizzed a 14-year-old rape victim live on his breakfast radio show last month.

The TV insider apparently said that the new judge is male, wears size 40 trousers and is about 35 years old. As McFadden, music expert Molly Meldrum and John Farnham have all been ruled out, it is expected that Springbett will soon be confirmed as the replacement.

Springbett appeared as a judge on Nine Network's failed reality show Girlband a few years ago.
