A UK version of long-running entertainment news magazine Entertainment Tonight will launch in January, Sky One announced today.
The daily show is now in its 23rd season in the States and airs in some 40 countries worldwide.
The UK version will be fronted from Los Angeles by former Big Breakfast host Amanda Byram. Sky One is giving the one-hour show an 8pm slot on Fridays and an initial run of six months.
“It seems only fitting that Sky One, as the UK’s leading multichannel entertainment station, should be the home of Entertainment Tonight," said Sky One controller James Baker. "Entertainment Tonight is an American institution."
Entertainment Tonight UK will adopt the same format as its US counterpart, but instead focusing primarily on the lives of British stars living in Hollywood.
Sky One has also picked up the rights to the American series, which will air one day after its Stateside broadcast.
