The Scottish interior designers recently signed up to front 22 episodes of the ITV1 daytime show, which claims to transform the homes of participants in just one hour.
Speaking to the Daily Record, McAllister revealed: "We've watched 60 Minute Makeover in the past and it's a good old romp.
"At first we were thinking we weren't going to do what we want to do in 60 minutes. [We thought it would] be two days in reality. But it's really 60 minutes. They are so strict.
"The first couple of shows we were in deep shock. It's great fun but you come away with a slight nosebleed."
He added: "In one of the episodes we took out someone's kitchen and put in a new one with granite work surfaces in just 60 minutes."
60 Minute Makeover's new series will begin on Monday with an episode presented by John Amabile. Colin and Justin's debut will air the next day.
