
Harper's Island had a disappointing start for BBC Three last night, according to early viewing figures.
The first episode of the murder mystery series, which stars Elaine Cassidy, Christopher Gorham and Katie Cassidy, pulled in a lowly 364k (1.6%) between 9pm and 9.40pm. The second episode followed immediately after, averaging 346k (1.7%).
Also on the multichannel stations, House pulled in 494k (2.2%) for Sky1 during the 9pm hour, a drop of around 119k from last week's performance.
ITV2's X Factor repeat averaged 1m (5.1%) at 7pm, then 747k (3.4%) tuned in for The Xtra Factor rerun during the 8pm hour.
Elsewhere, the new Agatha Christie's Marple averaged 5.02m (20.8%) for ITV1 between 9pm and 11pm. It lost viewers in the second hour to BBC One's Waking The Dead, which returned to an impressive 6.08m (24.8%). Earlier on BBC One, Antiques Roadshow had 3.83m (16.2%) during the 8pm hour.
Over on BBC Two, Last Chance To See grabbed 3.12m (13.2%) at 8pm, then the audience fell to 2.56m (10.6%) during the 9pm screening of Dragons' Den: On Tour.
Channel 4's Come Dine With Me logged 2.04m (8.6%) at 8pm, then 9/11: Phone Calls From The Towers put in 1.64m (7.4%) between 9pm and 10.40pm.
Jim Carrey's The Mask averaged 1.65m (6.8%) for Five.
Overall, BBC One came top during primetime with an average share of 20.8% to ITV1's 18.5%. BBC Two was third with 10.4%, followed by Channel 4 with 7% (+1: 0.7%) and Five's 5.8%.
