The 21-year-old, who lost out to Casey Donovan at the Sydney Opera House last month, debuted at the top with his version of Andrea Bocelli/Celine Dion duet 'The Prayer'.
Figures released today show that Callea's single shifted 34,317 copies in three days; earlier this month, Donovan's debut took seven days to sell 35,817.
More bad news for Donovan: her debut album 'For You' missed out on the top spot, with first week sales of 34,036 versus week nine sales of 42,734 for Robbie Williams' 'Greatest Hits'.
