'Australian Idol' winner 'didn't get paid'

Australian Idol 2006 winner Damien Leith has claimed that he didn't receive any royalties for his debut album The Winners Journey.
The album, a compilation of all of Leith's Idol performances, sold over 300,000 copies in Australia and made $5 million in profits.
However, contracts signed by the cast of the show stipulate that songs recorded during the show belong to 19 Entertainment and Fremantle Media, not the contestants.
"We thought money from The Winner's Journey was going to come through and it didn't... basically I didn't get paid," Leith told Australia's The Daily Telegraph. "It was tough, it wasn't what it was painted out to be."
The 33-year-old singer will release his new album Remembering June on October 9.
