Aussie 'Apprentice' contestants friends

Two contestants on The Apprentice Australia knew each other before the show, it has been revealed.

Although it does not officially break the rules of the new show, the incident has caused outrage among its viewers.

Contestant and businesswoman Carmen Parnos apparently mentored rival Amy Cato prior to the series, according to business magazine Anthill.

According to the publication, Parnos wrote about Cato last December: "My first impressions of Amy Cato were 'What a knockout'. She looked great. She was in a neat and dry cleaned business suit. I thought that was professional."

Some members of the public believe that the contestants could forge secret alliances, giving them an unfair advantage.

Parnos was one of the contestants about to be fired by this week's local boss, Mark Bouris.
