Sebastian: 'Australian Idol needs Kyle'

Guy Sebastian has said that he is not impressed with the latest series of Australian Idol.

The 'Like It Like That' singer, who won the first series of the reality TV show, said that it is less exciting without Kyle Sandilands, the former judge who was sacked after being caught up in a radio rape scandal.

Sebastian told The Daily Telegraph: "I don't think it's the greatest year. I think the show misses Kyle. You either love Kyle or you hate Kyle but you can't argue that he brought a point of view and a point of difference to the show.'"

Talking about the quality of contestants, Sebastian added: "It's hard, because you're not going to find a Wes Carr every year. You're not going to get those performances all the time."

Sebastian added: "People go 'maybe Idol's had its day', that's not true."
