The 9pm screening easily won its timeslot, but the next episode, which aired afterwards at 10pm, managed just 360k (2.3%).
Elsewhere, Holby City and Traffic Cops logged 4.9m (21%) and 4.21m (19.1%) at 8pm and 9pm respectively for BBC One.
BBC Two's MasterChef: The Professionals took 3.53m (14.9%) between 8.15pm and 9pm, then a double bill of new sci-fi drama Defying Gravity managed 1.72m (7.7%) and 1.44m (7.2%) at 9pm and 9.45pm.
Ruth Watson's Hotel Rescue put in 1.61m (6.9%) for Channel 4 during the 8pm hour, then the audience climbed to 2.57m (11.6%) during the 9pm screening of The Secret Millionaire. True Blood followed at 10pm, bringing in 1.2m (7.6%).
Five's The Lost Symbol: Truth Or Fiction drew 1.4m (6%) at 8pm, then Billy Connolly comedy The Man Who Sued God averaged 1.09m (5.6%) between 9pm and 11pm.
ITV1's coverage of Chelsea's game against Atlético Madrid took 4.25m (19%) between 7.30pm and 10pm.
