'Coronation Street' wins South Bank Award

Coronation Street has become the first soap to receive an honour at the South Bank Show Awards.
Perhaps surprisingly given the traditionally high-brow nature of the awards, the popular soap won the award for best TV drama over competitors Filthy Love and Shameless.

Dance - Akram Ka for Ma at the Edinburgh Festival

Outstanding Achievement Award - Paul Abbott
Times Breakthrough Award - Amma Asante
