Underbelly: The Golden Mile, which tells the story of the corrupt Sydney police force and criminals in 1989, will feature stars including Diarmid Heidenreich, Damian Garvey, Wil Traval and Dieter Brummer.
Ex-Home and Away star Brummer former Neighbours actor Peter O'Brien both return after their roles in the second season of the show.
Channel 9's head of drama Jo Horsburgh told AAP: "The Golden Mile is already shaping up in its promise to deliver entertaining characters and compelling stories... I can't wait to see it come to life and for an audience to sit back enjoy the ride."
Actress Emma Booth has already confirmed that she will star as prostitute and policewoman Kim Hollingsworth in the crime show.
It is believed that filming is under way and that the drama will be aired next year.
