Anne Robinson has landed a multi-million pound deal to front the US version of gameshow The Weakest Link.

Having quit Watchdog on Friday, she is now preparing to present the first 13-part series for NBC. The six-year contract will see her start work next month.

John Penrose, husband and agent, said: "I can't reveal the exact details, but she's not going to be out of pocket. It's a multi-million pound deal. It's a six-year contract so they have the option to use her for six years.

"It's a remarkable achievement for any British presenter to be invited to appear on prime time TV in the states. Annie is absolutely delighted. She's elated. There's only one Anne Robinson - that's exactly why NBC decided to go for her."

The Sun, meanwhile, has reported that the deal is worth around £15 million.

Anne said, "Margaret Thatcher made her mark on America as a strong and opinionated woman and I'm following in her footsteps."
