Katie Piper will deliver an alternative Christmas message on Channel 4, it has been announced.
The acid attack survivor, who featured in the network's Cutting Edge documentary Katie: My Beautiful Face, will present the show, which will go up against the Queen's broadcast.
Piper, a 24-year-old model and budding TV presenter, had a cup of sulphuric acid thrown in her face in 2008 in an attack arranged by her ex-boyfriend. A year on, after various operations and physiotherapy, she is starting to come to terms with her new identity.
Channel 4's previous alternatives have featured Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, an injured veteran from the war in Afghanistan, Quentin Crisp, the Reverend Jesse Jackson, Doreen and Neville Lawrence, Genelle Guzman, a 9/11 survivor and The Simpsons.
