'Move Like Michael Jackson' opens to 637k

Move Like Michael Jackson made a decent debut on BBC Three last night, overnight viewing figures show.

The first episode of the Jermaine Jackson-fronted dance contest, which aired at 8.30pm, logged 637k (2.8%). The second instalment followed immediately afterwards at 9.30pm, bringing in 646k (3.3%).

Also on the multichannel stations last night, The Xtra Factor: Best and Worst 2009 put in 512k (2.4%) for ITV2 in the 9pm hour.

Elsewhere, the final instalment of the recently-renewed Miranda attracted 2.58m (10.5%) to BBC Two. University Challenge and School Of Saatchi managed 3.04m (12.7%) and 870k (3.8%) at 8pm and 9pm respectively.

Over on BBC One, Panorama took 3.36m (13.6%) at 8.30pm, then the audience climbed to 4.96m (21.9%) during the 9pm screening of Life.

Countrywise logged 3.19m (13.4%) for ITV1 at 8pm, then Out Of My Depth drew 4.09m (18%) during the 9pm hour.

Christmas At River Cottage put in 1.75m (7.2%) for Channel 4 at 8pm, then 1.27m (5.6%) tuned in for Man On Earth at 9pm.

Five's Gadget Show: Gadget Of The Decade was seen by 1.22m (5%) in the 8pm hour, then Bad Santa averaged 1.65m (8.3%) between 9pm and 11pm.

Overall, ITV1 came top during primetime with an average share of 23.8% to BBC One's 22.1%. BBC Two was third with 7.4%, followed by Channel 4 with 5.1% (+1: 0.7%) and Five's 5.7%.
