Speaking to DS at the filming of the seasonal specials, the group called for TOTP - whose weekly edition was axed after 42 years in 2006 - to return on a more regular basis.
"Top Of The Pops should definitely come back, especially if N-Dubz were hosting!" group member Dappy said. "Me, Fazer, Tulisa and Reggie Yates in the middle of course would make it really exciting!
"If it came back, it would have to have the same titles and artwork as back in the day, though. Keep the same artwork and we'll love Top Of The Pops forever!"
N-Dubz described appearing on the show's New Year's Eve episode as an "honour", a sentiment echoed by Tinchy Stryder, the rapper with whom they scored a number one hit earlier this year.
"I used to watch it every week on TV so being here today definitely means something to me," Stryder told DS. "When I was younger, if you saw an artist on Top Of The Pops, you knew they were a serious artist.
"I remember seeing So Solid Crew on there and thinking, 'They've made it to a new level, man'."
Tinchy Stryder and N-Dubz perform 'Number 1' on Top Of The Pops on New Year's Eve on BBC One. The show's other festive special airs on Christmas Day on the same channel.
