TV networks have reportedly launched new cookery, sports shows and dramas in a bid to become the most successful channel.
Fusion Strategy manager Steve Allen told the Herald Sun: "It will be very fierce. The sheer volume of choices for viewers means the programmes at the main stations have to perform."
New shows include ABC's Poh's Kitchen, a cookery series hosted by MasterChef 2009 runner-up Poh Ling Yeow. The second season of MasterChef Australia and Seven series My Kitchen Rules will also take place.
Channel 9's third season of crime drama Underbelly, starring Sigrid Thornton and Natalie Bassingthwaighte, is tipped to be a success, while Rebecca Gibney and Vince Colosimo will star in new drama The Maria Korp Case: The Woman in the Boot Story.
Other programmes that network insiders believe will be popular with viewers are variety show Hey Hey It's Saturday and a new chatshow fronted by Mick Molloy, Eddie McGuire and model Rachael Finch.
