Michael McIntyre and Chris Evans are reportedly the new favourites to take over from Jonathan Ross on the BBC.

Last week, Ross announced that he would be leaving after 13 years with the corporation, with subsequent reports suggesting that he was 'forced out'.

Graham Norton was later named as the early favourite to take over his Friday night slot. However, The Sun claims that the comedian was left humiliated over the weekend after bosses told him he would not be taking over.

An insider is quoted as saying: "Graham is not going to get that show and that is a fact."

Ross is now rumoured to be in talks with Channel 4 over bringing back his 1980s chat show The Last Resort.
