Saturdays Vanessa daunted by going solo

The Saturdays star Vanessa White has admitted that she is daunted by going solo on ITV1's Popstar To Operastar.

White is one of the celebrities taking part in the new reality show, which will feature Katherine Jenkins and tenor Rolando Villazon attempting to turn pop singers into opera performers.

Speaking at the launch of the new reality series, the popstar told DS that she is finding it strange giving interviews and performing without her bandmates.

"I'm used to just piping up and saying one little thing, because the other four girls will all be talking as well," she told DS. "I'm finding it weird that when I look around the girls are not next to me - that's really nerve-wracking."

The 20-year-old also revealed that she hopes her new opera training will benefit her bandmates in the long run.

"I think there are loads of things I can take into my pop singing," she said. "I'm going to see if the opera techniques I have learnt will work in pop."

Popstar To Operastar airs on ITV1 at 9pm on Saturday.
