At the end of series one, viewers saw Graham's character Abby kidnapped by the mysterious laboratory, separating her from her surviving friends.
"She's very vulnerable and traumatised - she's away from her friends and she doesn't know what's happened to them," she told DS.
"The last thing she saw was Greg being shot, so it's a couple of very distressing, harrowing episodes for poor old Abby."
She also revealed that Abby will form an "uneasy bond" with her kidnapper Whitaker, played by Nicholas Gleaves.
Survivors begins tonight at 9pm on BBC One.
