The classical singer is a judge and mentor on the new reality contest, which challenges pop singers to perform famous opera songs in front of the nation.
Discussing her planned judging style, Jenkins told This Is South Wales: "I won't find it hard to be critical. I count myself to be straight-talking with the people I'm working with. If some of them haven't been working hard enough then I've been quite straightforward about it. I have high expectations.
"The best way to help them is to be honest, even if that isn't what people want to hear. So I hope that doesn't go against me."
Jenkins also revealed that she has been busy planning her outfits for the live shows, explaining: "I'll definitely be spending time on my look like Cheryl [Cole] and Dannii [Minogue] do on X Factor. I've had a designer make new dresses especially for each live show - I'll be wearing slinky stuff!"
Popstar To Operastar launches on Friday at 9pm on ITV1.
