Zoe Lucker's departure from Footballers' Wives could be a red herring, according to rumours in The Mirror today.

The newspaper claims that Lucker's character, superbitch Tanya Turner, will make a surprise return at the end of the current series.

Tanya apparently moves to Brazil and marries a millionaire, who later dies, leaving Tanya his fortune. The report claims that the current series will end with Tanya returning to Earls Park, announcing that she is the club's new owner, prompting speculation that Tanya could be back for the next series.

A spokeswoman for the show confirmed that the door will be left open for Tanya to return, however a new series of Footballers' Wives has yet to be commissioned.
