The 13-part series, which stars Brooke Elliott and Margaret Cho, and features guest appearances from Liza Minnelli and Paula Abdul, will premiere on Living in April.
The story follows a wannabe model called Deb who finds herself at the gates of Heaven after a fatal car accident. She is then accidentally relegated to the body of the recently deceased Jane Bingum, a plus-size attorney.
"If you loved shows like Ugly Betty and Ally McBeal then you will love Drop Dead Diva," said Virgin's head of acquisitions Amy Barham.
"Its great mix of the hilarious, the quirky and sometimes the downright tearjerking that will ensure its place as another must watch addition to Living's already stellar drama lineup."
