Rufus Hound has revealed that Cheryl Cole loved his appearance on Let's Dance For Sport Relief.

Hound, who will repeat his performance of Cole's 'Fight For This Love' on tonight's final, explained that he hadn't believed the Girls Aloud star had seen it at first.

According to The Mirror, he said: "I was told through the grapevine that she'd seen it and really liked it but like all the things you hear on the grapevine, you have no idea whether it's true.

"But today one of my dancers, who is also one of Cheryl's backing dancers, told me he spoke to her and he went, 'She loves it, she thinks it's the funniest thing'."

Hound added that he hopes his performance will cheer Cole up following her recent split from her husband Ashley.

"I did think if she is a bit down in the dumps it might help to cheer her up," he said. "At no point did I do it to help Cheryl but the idea that during a rough time she got a giggle out of it, well, that's really nice."

The Let's Dance For Sport Relief final kicks off tonight at 7pm on BBC One.
