Bert Newton has been announced as the presenter of this year's Logie Awards.
The 71-year-old TV legend, who is best known for his roles on shows such as 20 to 1, New Faces and Good Morning Australia, said that he would only agree to host the event if he could be unscripted.
Newton told the Herald Sun: "I would hate to have to do a show like the Logies and be totally scripted. I wouldn't do it under those circumstances."
Also performing at the event will be Susan Boyle, John Mayer and Gabriella Cilmi.
This year's show, which will be the 19th one that Newton has presented, takes place in Melbourne on May 2.
