Former Doctor criticises Eccleston
Former Doctor Who Peter Davison is unimpressed with Christopher Eccleston's decision to quit the show after one series.

Eccleston is to be replaced by Casanova star David Tennant after he decided to leave the role after filming 13 episodes, fearing that continuing in the role would result in him being typecast.

Waveguide.co.uk quotes Davison, who played the Time Lord from 1982 to 1984 as saying: "I hate to see, after all the effort that went into getting the programme back on TV, Doctor Who scuppered by an actor saying 'I don't want to do this anymore'.

"It is now difficult for people to watch knowing he has walked out on the show.

"I don't think you can engage with the new Doctor in the way you should be able to."
