Earlier this week, it was reported that the BBC and ITV had both approached the injured star to give his opinions on England matches when the tournament kicks off in the summer.
However, according to The Sun today, Beckham will instead cheer on the England team from the dugout alongside coach Fabio Capello.
A source told the newspaper: "Becks has said he would rather sit at home and watch it on the telly than commentate.
"He belongs on the bench with Capello and the team. That's where he's the most use. His mind is made up and he will go to South Africa as a Fourth Lion for England. The lads will be thrilled."
Beckham's Achilles tendon injury has led to him being ruled out of the World Cup as a player.
