Irish stand-up Jason Byrne has revealed that he would like to do a "character mock documentary" series.

The comedian, who is taking part in Marco Pierre White's latest reality show Kitchen Burnout, said that he had been inspired by Australian TV star Chris Lilley.

"I just saw this thing in Australia actually called Summer Heights High. Have you seen that? If you can bring something like that to f**king telly - I mean, I nearly died when I watched it. I'd love to make a character mock documentary thing like that," he told DS.

"It's been done, but when you do it right, it's great."

He added: "I'll only do something on TV if it's really good. Would I like to do a mainstream TV comedy show? The TV I like is Little Britain, Family Guy, Mitchell & Webb and South Park. It would be great to do something cool like that, but I don't want to do telly for the sake of doing telly."

Byrne stars in Marco's Kitchen Burnout tomorrow night at 9pm on ITV1.
