Christopher Biggins has revealed why he did not use his real home on Celebrity Come Dine With Me.

Channel 4 was accused of misleading viewers earlier this year when it was revealed that contestants on the cookery show had not used their own properties for their dinner parties.

Biggins was one of the celebrities who rented a home, when he played host to Julia Bradbury, Edwina Curry and Phillip Olivier.

Speaking about the incident, Biggins told DS: "What happened was, they came to my house and said that it was lovely. But, the following day, they said that they needed the artists names of the paintings in my home to check for copyright.

"I said, 'Hang on a second. First, I didn't know you would need that. Second, I'm not sure I want my house to be shown now'. That was the problem, and that's why they found me a house around the corner."

He joked: "I think people think now that I have this bland house with throws over the sofas. They think, 'poor boy, he's not done very well this year, has he'."

The I'm A Celebrity... winner also said that he had stayed in contact with Olivier and Bradbury, who he described as "lovely".

"It was a very funny episode. I'm still in touch with Phillip. I love him to death. He's gorgeous," he said. "And Julia Bradbury, who got us all so drunk on the first night, I'm still in touch with her.

"I was so ill after Julia's! We drank champagne, red wine, white wine and then gave us shots throughout the meal. And because Edwina Curry wouldn't drink, I had all her shots as well! When I got home, I was apparently very, very funny. I went straight up to the bathroom and thew up all over the bath. That's how good a night I had."

Biggins is currently working as the face of Market Kitchen's competition to find Britain's Best Pudding. Market Kitchen airs weekdays at 6pm on Good Food.
