NBC and Granada America are partnering on a new reality show that combines music and celebrities.
I'm A Celebrity But I Want To Be A Pop Star was unveiled today by Craig Plestis, senior VP for alternative programming and development and NBC and Paul Jackson, CEO of Granada America.
"Everyone secretly wants to get on stage and become a pop star – and celebrities are no different," said Plestis. "This new series will allow viewers to see who's really entitled to live out that dream. We are thrilled to partner with Granada America on another exciting alternative series."
The combination of music and celebrities in reality TV has been a ratings hit on both sides of the Atlantic. The Strictly Come Dancing format, for example, has performed well for the BBC in the UK and ABC in the States.
"I'm so pleased that these big music extravaganza shows, which have long been a staple in the UK market, are now being embraced in America," said Jackson. "It's gratifying to extend our relationship with NBC which has already resulted in the success of Hit Me Baby One More Time," he added.
More details about which celebrities will be participating will be revealed at a later date.
