Long Lost Family will see people being reunited with living relatives they have been trying to contact, The Guardian reports.
"I've never been so excited about a show in my career," Campbell said. "I have a deep emotional connection with it, being an adopted person and having traced my own birth families."
The show is being produced by Wall To Wall, the independent production company behind BBC One's Who Do You Think You Are.
The six-part series will air on ITV1 in the autumn.
