The singer, who wed actor Bourne last summer, said that the first nine months of married life had been "fantastic".
"In some ways it wasn't a huge change because we'd lived together for a year before we got married but I love being a wife," she told The Mirror.
"I'm not exactly a Stepford Wife, though. Being a wife sounds all grown up, and I don't feel that grown up - I'm a missus!"
Speaking about her husband, she added: "I'm really lucky though because I've found a good one - Alex is a brilliant hubby. He's really supportive and he's always proud of everything I do.
"And because I'm not great at it, he does all the cooking, he's the chef of the house. He's experimental with food and enjoys it much more than I do. I think women in our generation concentrate more on their careers and aren't that worried about cooking and all those other domestic things that used to be really important."
Stevens also claimed that the secret to the relationship was good communication. "People aren't mind-readers so you've got to open up if you're going to compromise," she said. "I'm a bit of a talker so not much goes by unsaid in our relationship!"
