Whiteley's final 'Countdown' ep to air today
Published Friday, Jul 1 2005, 00:35 BST | By Neil Wilkes

Preceding the 53rd grand final at 2.30pm will be a repeat of YTV documentary Richard Whiteley: A Television Man, filmed by the host last year. In the show, Whiteley re-visits his childhood and schooldays, and reminisces on his successful career as a journalist, news reporter and presenter.
Immediately following Whiteley's last Countdown episode will be a special tribute programme, Mr Countdown: A Tribute to Richard Whiteley, featuring interviews with friends and colleagues including Carol Vorderman, Susie Dent, Esther Rantzen, Tim Rice and Geoffrey Durham.
Whiteley died at the age of 61 on Sunday after heart surgery.
Channel 4 has yet to determine the future of its longest-running show but has confirmed that plans to produce a series of episodes fronted by guest presenters have now been scrapped.
