Russell Brand has confirmed that he would like to appear on Jonathan Ross's chatshow before the broadcaster leaves the BBC.

Reports have suggested that Ross wants to interview the comedian on the final episode of his Friday night programme, although it is thought that the corporation's bosses are unhappy about the idea.

If the plan goes ahead, Ross and Brand are expected to speak publicly about 2008's 'Manuelgate' scandal, which saw the pair face strong criticism for leaving offensive messages on Andrew Sachs's answerphone.

Speaking to the Radio Times, Brand commented: "Obviously, I'd love to do something with Jonathan before his show ends. Aside from the mayhem, in October 2008 I believe it was, he's been my friend for a while and really supportive and I love him.

"But I love the BBC as well, so I don't want to do anything that antagonises them or compromises them."

Meanwhile, discussing his role in the Sachs row, he remarked: "As I said at the time, it was impolite and I apologise for that… But as for all the subsequent reaction - it's like you knock over a glass of water at your neighbour's house and the wife comes down and shoots the dog."

Ross will leave the BBC when his current contract expires next month.
