'Father & Son' loses 1m

The second part of ITV's mini-series Father & Son saw a ratings drop of over 1m on Tuesday night, the latest viewing figures indicate.

The four-part crime drama, which stars Dougray Scott, was watched by 4.09m (17.5%) on ITV1 from 9pm, down 1.08m on Monday night's debut episode.

However, the programme still comfortably won the 9pm hour after detective series Luther attracted just 3.49m (14.9%) to BBC One.

BBC One took the 8pm hour, with Holby City averaging 5.28m (23.3%) against Who Wants To Be A Millionaire's 3.43m (15.1%) on ITV1.

Coast brought in 1.49m (7.2%) for BBC Two in the 7pm hour, and then Springwatch 2010 appealed to 2.9m (12.8%) from 8pm.

The return of reality series Tribal Wives, which features British women joining tribal societies around the world, attracted 1.99m (8.5%) to BBC Two from 9pm.

On Channel 4, Gok's Fashion Fix averaged 1.86k (8.2%) in the 8pm hour and 248k (1.1%) on timeshift. It was followed by Inside Nature's Giants: Great White Shark, which took 1.88m (8.1%) and 226k (1.3%) on timeshift.

Documentary Volcanic Ash: The Ticking Timebomb pulled in 1.52m (6.7%) for Five in the 8pm hour, and CSI grabbed 2m (8.5%) from 9pm.

Overall, BBC One gained victory in primetime with a share of 21.1% compared to ITV1's 17.9%. BBC Two took third place with 8.8%, followed by Channel 4 with 7% (+1: 0.9%) and Five with 5.9%.

Elsewhere, The Vampire Diaries brought in an impressive 563k (2.4%) for ITV2 in the 9pm hour and 115k (0.6%) on timeshift.
