With an average of 16.8 million viewers and a peak audience of 22.4 million, Dancing With The Stars became the most successful summer series in the States since the launch of seminal reality show Survivor in 2000.
The second cycle of 'Stars' - expanded from the six episode order of the first - will form part of ABC's midseason schedule, with a January debut most likely.
"The show is tremendous fun, perfect for our brand and a wonderful boost for our schedule," said Steve McPherson, head of entertainment at ABC. "Having 'Dancing' and 'Brat Camp' both emerge this summer as assets for the future gives us great upside."
