England v USA scores high for ITV1

England's first World Cup group qualifying game averaged 11.97m (50.9%) from 7pm to 9.45pm, with the audience peaking at 18.37m (66.5%). On HD, a further 1.55m (5.9%) tuned in. These figures do not take into account people who may have been watching in pubs, bars and clubs.
James Corden's World Cup Live followed with a slot-winning 5.07m (23.9%), then at 10.15pm the show picked up an extra 754k (3.9%) on ITV4, the channel's largest audience this year.
While ITV1 claimed a colossal victory in primetime - averaging 49.6% -.BBC One took a heavy hit opposite the competition, dropping to an average audience share of 11.9%.
Doctor Who's 'The Lodger', which also featured Corden, dropped to another series low of 4.31m (21.1%) from 6.45pm, then The National Lottery: In It To Win It could only muster 2.33m (9.1%).
Casualty was seen by 3.02m (11.1%) at 8.20pm, after which 3.1m (15.3%) watched Meet The Fockers from 9.20pm.
On BBC Two, Have I Got Old News For You amused 1.56m (7.3%), as the channel took only 4.7% across primetime. Meanwhile, the channel's coverage of the Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix Qualifying averaged an impressive 2.35m (15.3%) from 5pm.
Sense and Sensibility pulled in 1m (3.9%) for Channel 4 from 7.10pm, followed by Big Brother at 9.45pm, which picked up just 1.88m (9.2%). Overall, 4.8% watched the network between 7pm and 10.30pm.
CSI: Miami, CSI: NY and Law & Order drew 892k (3.3%), 1.96m (9.5%) and 869k (6.3%) for Five, which averaged a share of 4%.
