A scholarship set up in memory of Countdown presenter Richard Whiteley is to provide funding for those seeking a career in television.
Channel 4's Richard Whiteley Scholarship will be awarded annually to somebody in the late presenter's native Yorkshire.
The first award, worth almost £11,000, will fund somebody enrolling in a television production skills course at the Arts Skillcentre at Bubwith near Selby, reports BBC News.
Channel 4's chief executive Andy Duncan explained: "We have created this scholarship as a lasting tribute, and I hope a fitting one, to Richard's memory.
"The scheme will provide practical support for emerging TV talent in Yorkshire, a region of which Richard was immensely proud and where, as we all know, he built his own TV career."
