Relocated TOTP loses audience

Top Of The Pops has lost over half of its audience since changing its slot.
Last month the show was moved from its Friday 7.30 p.m. slot on BBC1 to its new home on BBC2 at 7.00 p.m. on Sundays. Since the change of schedule the show has been drawing an average audience of 1.1m viewers compared to the former 2.4m in its previous slot, reports MediaGuardian.
The logic behind the change of time was that it would improve poor ratings suffered due to a number of factors, including direct competition with Coronation Street, the fact that it was broadcast days after the chart was announced, and the decline in the UK singles market.
