The 17-year-old, who triumphed in last year's competition, has been blighted by poor record sales; at least relative to runner-up Anthony Callea, who went on to claim the fastest-selling Aussie single in history.
"Winning Idol was a pretty big thing and thank God my stepdad made me enter but to be honest, some days I do wish I hadn't won," she told Sydney's Daily Telegraph.
Donovan is now hoping to "wipe the slate clean" as she progresses with plans to write a second album.
"I am wiping my slate clean. All the Idol bashing is starting up again but I am moving on from there. I am Casey now – there will be a new Idol to deal with all of this soon."
