James Purefoy has agreed to star in a new BBC drama/documentary about the life of 18th Century pirate Blackbeard.
The production is being made by Dangerous Films, the company behind last year's D-Day, and features a similar mix of dramatic and documentary aspects.
The drama will be shown in two hour-long instalments.
Waveguide.co.uk quotes Dangerous Films' Andrew Bampfield as saying: "It's a historical factual drama, backed up with commentary. The show is based on Blackbeard's two-year reign of terror leading up to his death."
